I come back from work to this terrible news? Retired quarterback Steve McNair was shot and killed today in Tennessee. He was 36. A female body was found too. Since this is literally about an hour old, there are not a lot of details yet, and no suspects. Here’s a link to some basic information.

McNair was the quarterback responsible for the “Music City Miracle” against the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the playoffs. He brought the Tennessee Titans to Super Bowl XXXIV against the St. Louis Rams, where they lost in a nailbiter. McNair had multiple Pro bowl appearances and MVP honors.

Of course, there will now be talk of Hall of Fame status for McNair. It’s obviously too influenced by his death right now, so people should be careful. He was incredibly athletic and turned what seemed like a doomed play into a big gain for the offense.

Rest in peace, Steve McNair.

Everybody’s favorite media-accessible NFL loud-mouth (T.O.’s not as funny) tweeted about the idea of running ESPN by himself. I think that this would be a major improvement on the ESPN we have now. To take this a step further, I outlined what would be a 24-hour schedule of programming if it became ESPN: The Ocho…Cinco.

Flipping through NFL rosters, there is a vast number of names which use three vowels in a row, or maybe none at all. There are first names that sound like the parents took a bunch of magnets from a refrigerator and let them fall in some kind of odd order. From each team, I have selected the best name that you will see in a uniform this year.

Here are some factors I keep in mind while choosing:
-Creativity
-Number of words
-Pronounciation
-If it makes you sound like a badass or not

Some players in this list might start at their position, while others might ride the bench. These are the best names from each AFC team. The NFC edition will be coming soon after.
