San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith has got some major balls to go and take that block for who I think is Arnaz Battle on a reverse play. The guy he flattened wasn’t some cupcake cornerback or secondary. That was Oakland Raider Greg Ellis, a defensive end. I don’t know which is crazier, your quarterback blocking a defensive end or your defensive end capable of being absolutely owned by a quarterback. Good thing neither team has a chance in the playoffs.
Just to get a feel for the physical attributes of the two colliding forces, Alex Smith is 6-4, 217 lbs. Greg Ellis is 6-6, 265 lbs. Now, a blindside hit is a blindside hit, but still, 50 extra pounds coming at you isn’t an easy thing to floor.
Here’s a nifty GIF version, found on IGN Boards.
