The days of “Checkdown” Chad Pennington might be over for this season with the Miami Dolphins, as ESPN reports that he tore something in his shoulder when he was hit in yesterday’s game against the San Diego Chargers. It’s not absolutely certain, but when I was watching yesterday, the way he landed when he was hit looked excruciating, and Pennington might have broken his nose earlier in the game when he was bleeding between the eyes. This just gives him another chance to be Comeback Player of the Year for the third time or something.
Now, the obvious question is who would take his place. Everyone’s going to say “ZOMG PAT WHITE AAAAGHHH WILDCAT” and that’s predictable. There will probably be a couple douchebag fantasy writers who say to pick him up so that they can drum up views and spend less time complaining about their inability to get girls. If you pick up Pat White, you are stupid. There are so many better, consistent, experienced quarterbacks on waivers, and if you’re really that desperate, trade for one. Better yet, Mark Sanchez is on most waiver wires, and he has had decent fantasy numbers. I’ll update this as more news comes out, but for now, Pennington is probably going to be watching from the bench with his stupid fourth-grade haircut.

That is terrible news for a really good guy. Chad – a classy guy who has had to shoulder a burden for years with those surgeries.
