Welcome to the last edition of this short and sweet PLAYOFFDAY series.
Well, it’s been a good run. I don’t really have much to say, as it’s not like it’s the end of the football season (still the Pro Bowl… blech) since we still have the Super Bowl to cover, but the real meat of the football season is done. I’ll leave you with a song to take you back to middle school and some picks, as we’ll definitely have much more coverage for you coming up.
Here are the picks, games are in EST. Phew, these are easy to type now that there are much fewer games.
January 24
New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts, 3:00 PM
Honestly, it’s all or nothing here with my picks. There’s no real record to worry about, so picking upsets isn’t as risky. Either way, I’m going with the Jets in this game. I don’t think I’ve ever liked to pick the New York Jets over anyone, but it would be perfect justice to have the team that the Colts gave up their perfect record against to beat them. Fuck you, Peyton Manning, and fuck you, Jim Caldwell. You’re not a real coach.
New York over Indianapolis
Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints, 6:40 PM
Both of these championship games are going to be great, and hopefully this one will have shades of the Packers-Cardinals game from two weeks ago. Drew Brees and Brett Favre will be very active and spread the ball over the field, even though both of their teams have solid running games. It’s a hard game to pick, but I’ll go with the Vikings. I’m not exactly sure why, and I might regret it, but I have more confidence in them.
