Jerricho Cotchery And Philip Rivers Have A Meaningless Score To Settle

What do sports journalists do when the team they cover is in the playoffs and they’ve got a deadline to make for their publication? Dig up incredibly unimportant sub-plots involving two players on opposing teams, of course.
Such is the case with Mark Cannizzaro’s article concerning the beef that New York Jets wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery has with San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers.

Stroll Down Vintage Lane: 1957 Championship Game Between The Lions And Browns
Posted in Regular Post, Rovitz, SamerOchoCinco, tagged 1957 NFL Championship, Briggs Stadium, cleveland browns, detroit lions, Jim Brown, Tobin Rote on January 11, 2010 | 1 Comment »
Because Samer and I think these are awesome, and completely worth watching, here is 30 minutes of the 1957 NFL Championship Game between the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns from Briggs Stadium in Detroit, in stunning color TV!
We just wanted to bring you these videos to remind Lions and Browns fans of back in the time when they weren’t scrounging for better draft position, but instead fighting at the top in a battle of dominance. Don’t get too misty-eyed. Also, we didn’t really have any content planned for today and we’re not talking about the playoffs because you can find that anywhere.

The playoffs are here! That means some closer betting lines, where a cheap touchdown late could make or break your bets. We even have a road team listed as a favorite this weekend. Let’s have a look at who I like this coming weekend. As always, all betting lines are provided by Centsports.com.

A Backyard Football Prank With Painful Results
Posted in Regular Post, SamerOchoCinco, tagged backyard football, backyard football hits, fuck you hines ward on January 7, 2010 | Leave a Comment »
I haven’t put up a backyard football video for a while, as Rovitz and I have both been pumping out a lot of content lately probably due to having breaks from college, but Rovitz showed me this video that I couldn’t wait to post until we had minimal content. I’d pinpoint the part you should watch for the great hit, but the buildup isn’t that bad to sit through.
You have to feel bad for that kid. Poor bastard didn’t see it coming at all. On a scale of dirty hits from one to ten, that’s a “Hines Ward.” Speaking of, fuck Hines Ward. I’m glad you and the Steelers aren’t in the playoffs.
FOOTBALLDAY Recap: What Was My Picks Record For The Season? (And How Did I Compare To ESPN Analysts?)

I should have probably done this in the last FOOTBALLDAY, but I totally forgot and was too lazy at the time. Week after week I would pick games and type up my records. Before I forget, for the last FOOTBALLDAY, my record was 10-6.
I decided to do a full count of the whole season and see what my final percentage of getting picks correct was. Enlisting the help of Ricardo, the Calculator Monkey (who also works in Accounting for SSF) I figured out my record for the season. Drum roll please.

The final record for the 2009 regular season in FOOTBALLDAY picks is….

Willis McGahee Absolutely Ruins Hiram Eugene
Posted in Regular Post, SamerOchoCinco, tagged baltimore ravens, HE'S GOT TWO FIRST NAMES, hiram eugene-honorable mention for best name on the raiders, oakland raiders, willis mcgahee on January 4, 2010 | Leave a Comment »
This has probably circulated around a little bit, but I cannot hold back from putting this video of great NFL humiliation up. Think of it as reimbursement for the lack of backyard football videos recently.
In Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, Ravens running back Willis McGahee broke through a hole for a big run, and seemed to be destined to go to for six. Raiders safety Hiram Eugene was the only thing left in his way. Now that I’ve set up the highlight, just watch the video to see why Eugene should change his ridiculous name due to embarrassment.
Wow. That was unbelievably terrible. That explains why you went undrafted, Hiram. You made Brian Russell look like a dominant player.
Here’s a handy GIF found here for the most important part of the video, also for when the clip inevitably gets taken down from Youtube by the No Fun League.
Man, that does not get old. Someone needs to put Yakety Sax behind it to make it a timeless classic.
Thanks to SSF’s own Rovitz for bringing this video to my attention.
