You know how networks like NBC and FOX play songs you probably hate while going to commercials? How would you like that all the time? That’s FOX’s brilliant idea, and to me, it sounds like it’ll be annoying by the first time they try it.

Let Michael Hiestand from USA Today try and convince you how this concept isn’t wearing Bad Idea Jeans:

A new kind of NFL scoring: adding music to TV game coverage.

Don’t laugh. Fox will formally announce today that it will do that on its regional Arizona Cardinals-Carolina Panthers game Sunday (1 p.m. ET) after an unannounced test on last week’s Seattle Seahawks-San Francisco 49ers game. Fox Sports President Eric Shanks on whether such soundtracks will pop up on Fox’s upcoming Super Bowl: “It’s a possibility.”

Adam Schefter, who probably gets a good 40 minutes of sleep a night, reports that Tim Tebow will get the start at quarterback on the road against the Raiders. Denver’s season has already gone to the toilet, so I see no bad call on this one. I’m just going to say though, don’t be surprised if you see Brady Quinn a week after though.

As someone smarter than me pointed out, the Broncos have two home games left, and fans aren’t exactly stampeding to go see the amazing Kyle Orton play for them. Tebow is a great way to fill seats. I have to admit, it’s a really smart way to get whatever profit remains from this forgettable season by the Broncos.

This football season is going by way too fast. If you’re a Panthers fan, however, the season’s going painfully slow.

April 24, 2010, from ESPN:

Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren says the team has no plans to play Texas quarterback Colt McCoy as a rookie after selecting him in the third round of the NFL draft.

Though Cleveland fans may already be clamoring to see McCoy play, Holmgren cautions that it would be a mistake to put him on the field before he’s ready.

Holmgren, who has coached Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Steve Young and Brett Favre, said teams run the risk of “scarring” a young quarterback by playing him too soon.

Dec. 16, 2010, from the Cleveland Browns Twitter:

Mangini on Colt McCoy: The plan is for him to start this Sunday and the rest of the season. He’s been able to improve each week.

No one had incredibly high hopes for the Carolina Panthers this season, but I doubt anyone could have predicted a 1-12 record at this point. Yeah, they lost Jake Delhomme and replaced him with Jimmy Clausen, but that was supposed to be a GOOD thing. At least the Panthers still won games despite Delhomme throwing picks every time he had the ball.

After this past Sunday’s game, a 31-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Clausen apologized to Jon Beason for sucking so much, or at least that’s what I’m assuming. Wide receiver Steve “Not Really The Better One Anymore” Smith didn’t like that so much.

I know the incident of Tashard Choice asking Michael Vick for an autograph happened on Sunday night, but there’s no way I can ignore the weird responses it has gotten. It happened after Vick’s Eagles beat their NFC East rival Cowboys, and the tweet above shows Choice apologizing and saying it was for his nephew.

Of course, there are people who think that it’s representative of a team as a whole and how they have given up on the season, even though under Jason Garrett, they have won three out of five, and the two games they lost (against the Saints and this one against the Eagles) were by a field goal each. They’re totally slacking off and not trying at all.

Head coach Jason Garrett didn’t really have a problem with it, but worded it in a way so that no columnist could attack him for being as relaxed about it as old head coach Wade Phillips.

Remember when Ben Roethlisberger’s nose got all smushed up and everyone went “EWWWWW” when they saw the picture above? By the way, you’re welcome for that visual above in case you’re just eating.

Well, Ben got surgery on his nose, but after the game, a doctor told Ben his nose “looked like corn flakes.” DELICIOUS.

Sports Illustrated was kind enough to post a gallery of “rare” pictures of Drew Brees, which I noticed today. I found the first picture, a young Brees in high school, dressed up in a tuxedo for his high school yearbook photo. Pretty snazzy. Heck, I wore a Pink Floyd t-shirt to one of my school photos, but Drew went all the way.

For each younger picture of him, Drew’s birthmark looks bigger. How many times do you think his mom subconsciously licked her finger and tried to wipe it off his face? Awk-ward.

So, what caused Drew to gaze off into that weird angle in his picture? Did he just forget the homework due in fourth period? Is the school lunch finally hitting his digestive system?

Give it your best shot in the comments below.

One of the biggest market cities, Los Angeles is still without a football team since 1995, when the Raiders and Rams both left to the places they reside now.

People are forming plans and getting them set up, however, for a team to go back to the California city. Which team? The Bills? The Jaguars? Nope. Dean Spanos is trying to get his San Diego Chargers to move to L.A.
