Almost everyone knew that New York Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce wasn’t coming back for the rest of the season with something called a “bulging disc,” which sounds absolutely terrible, but it’s very possible that his career could be over.

Alright, you might have seen this on Drew’s weekly mailbag on Deadspin, but I’m going to be incredibly immature right now and say that I found it right as it was published on October 19, and that I had been planning to do a post about it when I did but I kept having tons of papers and shit to write (I’m in college, y’see) so I haven’t been able to get it on here until now. Sorry about that. It’s a very interesting article by Malcolm Gladwell in The New Yorker relating to football, dogfighting, and injuries. I’ll give you an excerpt and hope you keep reading on, because it really is worth your time.
