In baseball, there are three kinds of basic pitchers: starters, middle relief, and closers. At least, that’s what I think. I’m a football guy talking about baseball, so forgive me if you think I’m wrong. Each kind of pitcher has certain duties they are expected to do.

I got to thinking, why not apply that same theory to the quarterback position in the NFL?

Someone at Sign On San Diego made a very helpful database of every NFL player’s serious arrest since 2000, and it’s a very interesting read if you want fodder to make fun of other teams or just see who got arrested that you forgot about. They have a search bar so you can view by name, by team, or even position.

The real MLB Opening Day was today, and everything seemed to go smoothly. Dingers were socked, peanuts and beer were consumed and in general, everyone had fun. Or did they?

According to the Oakland Tribune, Al Davis is planning to fire Tom Cable as coach of the Oakland Raiders.  On one hand you have to feel bad for the man losing his job, but on the plus side, he would no longer have to deal with that mess of an organization.

Reports indicate that Cable will be fired.

Welcome to my first edition picking a few games against the spread.  Most of the time when I bet on NFL games, I prefer a four line parlay, so that’s what I will be picking in this column.  All lines in this column are via centsports.com, because they let me bet for free, which is really handy when you’re in college and don’t have extra income to be wasting on parlay cards.

While I was scanning through various NFL players for fantasy consideration, I looked at some of the roster headshots that they took. Some players were downright scary, and I couldn’t tell whether it was their team picture, or a mugshot that was taken after they robbed a store and went on a high-speed chase. So we’re going to play a little game. I’m going to give you several pictures of NFL players. Some of them are headshots, some are mugshots. You’re going to guess which is which. THE ANSWERS MAY SURPRISE YOU.
